A Tea Straw is Both a Straw and a Sieve
It does the job of a tea bag or a tea strainer, by ensuring the infused leaves and other ingredients in your brew are not swallowed. It strains while you drink!
It can be used for a range of infused drinks around the world, including Green teas, Herbal teas, Mate, Yerba, and Loose Leaf teas. It is called a bombilla in Spanish, a bomba in Portuguese, and a bombija or, more generally, a masassa straw in Arabic.
How is a Tea Straw Designed?
The submerged end of the straw is flared, with small holes or slots that allow the brewed liquid in, and block loose leaf tea and other brew ingredients, just like a metal screen in a teapot.
This tea straw is made from premium #304 (18/8) grade stainless steel.
Caution: Always check the temperature of your straw in the tea before drinking from it, as metal is a heat conductor.
Tea Straw Benefits
Using this stainless steel tea straw helps you avoid single-use products such as plastic straws and very importantly plastic tea bags.
Heat releases plastic microfibres from tea bags made with plastic into your brew! Read more here.
