Fruit Protection Bags and Sleeves Provide a Barrier to Pest Access to Your Produce
These Ryset Fruit Protection bags and sleeves reduce the frustration from pest damage and enable us to enjoy the fruits of our labour!
They are a safe, eco-friendly way to shield your fruit from damage, made from durable food-safe insect netting, these bags are breathable, UV stabilised, and non-toxic.
How do Fruit Protection Bags and Sleeves Work?
The fine mesh (smaller than 5mm) and drawstring design ensure a snug fit over your fruit, providing effective protection while allowing air and sunlight to reach your produce. They also add a 20% shade factor to reduce heat stress during summer. This helps protect fruit from sunburn on hot days.
When do you use Fruit Protection Netting Bags and Sleeves to protect your fruit?
Ideally the best time is when the fruit is young and hard, is properly established, just before it starts to ripen. This will be different for all fruit, of course. We have a summary of some of the more common fruit below.

Harvest Without Harm - Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Regulations 2019
This product is compliant with the Animal Welfare Victoria Harvest Without Harm initiative. If you live in Victoria, netting used to protect household fruit trees, vegetable gardens, or other fruiting plants must have a mesh size of 5mm x 5mm or less at full stretch.
If you use netting to protect your household fruit or vegetable plants in Victoria, you will need to comply with this mandatory requirement introduced under Victoria’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Regulations 2019 (POCTA Regulations). Netting fruit trees with larger holed mesh risks causing significant injury or death to wildlife such as possums and birds due to entanglement.
