The manufacturer of these notepads is passionate about educating people around the real language of what it means to be a truly 100% recycled product as there are a lot of misconceptions around other products and their recycled status.
To be genuinely recycled the product must be 100% post-consumer recycled. This means that the paper it is made from is paper that has left the paper mill, been purchased and used. After the paper is no longer able to be used for it’s intended purpose the paper is collected and reconstituted into paper again. Most of the paper collected is low grade paper scrap like cardboard cartons , newspapers, magazines etc. When recycled into paper and cardboard again faint glimmers of odd coloured material can be seen upon very close inspection.
All white copy papers that claim to be 100% Australian recycled use this trick wording to give the impression that it is 100% recycled when it is not. Grammatically the 100% refers to Australian not the % recycled. Generally the thin brown paper such as used in paper bags is not real recycled paper as when the paper is truly 100% recycled, the paper is often much thicker to have strength.
