About the Maker:

In 1890, in a small village in Maurienne in Savoie, Joseph Opinel invented the pocket knife which today bears his name.
He created a tool that was as robust and functional as it was simple and beautiful. Today, that same pocket knife is an iconic design object that is instantly recognisable, imminently useful, and beloved by generations.
The Opinel company is still managed by the descendants of Joseph Opinel and manufactures in the heart of the Alps, in Chambéry, whose dedication to craftsmanship and quality has made the reputation of the brand for more than 130 years.
